CROSSROADS is a new international art show, from the organisers of the highly regarded Pinta Art Fair. It encompasses special curatorial projects and forty-six galleries from around the world handpicked by a team of renowned curators. This niche fair is fresh, multicultural and accessible. CROSSROADS presents the most current artistic trends in a relaxed and convivial setting. An opportunity to experience the highest quality contemporary art by established and emerging artists, from a multitude of backgrounds and spanning different generations, who share a desire for breaking with the status quo and exploring new realms, new forms, and new ideas.
The Artistic Committee of CROSSROADS comprises renowned personalities in today’s international art world, including artists and curators from the Guggenheim Museum, theVenice Biennale and Documenta amongst others, such as Eva Ruiz, Pablo León de la Barra, Fernando Bryce, Franklin Evans, Cecilia Jurado, Bruno Leitão, Federico Luger, Marta Ramos-Yzquierdo, Manuela Ribadeneira, Aura Seikkula and Octavio Zaya.
A dialogue between cultures, geographies, history, diverse political situations and aesthetics intersect at CROSSROADS. Galleries from Spain, France, Portugal, Italy, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Romania, Bolivia, Colombia, Argentina, Mexico, USA, UAE and UKwill allow the public to experience what is happening now in contemporary art around the world and visit the best upcoming international contemporary galleries right in our door step.
With the generous support of the Government of Catalonia, and the collaboration of ABE(Barcelona Galleries Association) a number of galleries from Barcelona will be present, including Sicart, Galería Senda, Galería Trama, Joan Gaspar, Marc Domenech, Àngels, N2, Silvestre, Miguel Marcos and Víctor Lope Arte Contemporáneo.
Pilar Serra, NF, Slowtrack, Kir Royal and Bacelos from Madrid; Area 72 from Valencia,ATM from Gijon and T20 from Murcia will complete an extensive panorama of the current trends in Spain. Galleria Pack and FL Gallery from Milan, Frittelli Arte Contemporanea from Firenze and Paolo Maria Deanesi Gallery from Trento, Italy will be presenting contemporary Italian art together with art from Latin America and beyond. Other European galleries such as Bendana Pinel, Galerie Dix9 and Galerie Eva Meyer from Paris; Dittrich & Schlechtriem Gallery from Berlin, MAM Mario Mauroner Contemporary Art, Vienna. From further afield, Zahorian & Van Espen from Bratislava and Zorzini Gallery fromBucharest, whilst London galleries will include Kristin Hjellegjerde Gallery, Cecilia Brunson , and Narrative Projects.
Vermelho, Ybakatu Gallery, Galeria Pilar and Baro Galeria are amongst the galleries from Brazil that will be present in association with Latitude Abact Apex Brazil. More Latin American galleries and artists will include Revolver, Lima; Salar Galeria de Arte, La Paz;Indiana Bond from Bogota; Satelite from Mexico and Walden from Buenos Aires, alongside Y Gallery and Saphira&Ventura from New York. Special Proposals will be presented by Ateliê Alê from Sao Paulo, Naranjo from Barcelona and Collectionair from Dubai.
A specially conceived area is presented by Spanish curator Marta Ramos-Yzquierdo withÀngels, Barcelona; Vermelho and Galeria Pilar from Sao Paulo; Galleria Macca, Cagliariand Isla Flotante, Buenos Aires. A focus on historical Portuguese artists will be presented by Sala Branca from Portugal in “Great Masters of 20th Century Portuguese Art”.
Alongside the participating galleries, there will be a number of selected curatorial projects. Amongst them Let’s be ironic! – an original exhibit of works from the Servais Family Collection curated by Eva Ruiz and Eva Mansergas. A video programme, The Middle Field – envisaged by Bruno Leitão and Marta Ramos-Yzquierdo, will screen videos fromGasworks (London), VideoBrasil (São Paulo), VAN VideoArt Network (Lagos, Nigeria) and Bar Project (Barcelona).
The American installation artist Franklin Evans will intervene the fabric of The Old Truman Brewery with the site-specific project “readingroomincolor”, and Federico Luger will present Cuban artist Diango Hernandez’s “Years” installation. Design will also be showcased with a range of fabulous objects, tapestries and light installations selected by Manuel Díaz Cebrian. Somewhere Else is an on-site project curated by Fortunata Calabro and dedicated to the refugee crisis, supported by Counterpoints Arts, all benefits from this project will go to the Islington Centre of Refugees and Migrants.
“This is not a Restaurant” will be the installation of chef Martin Milesi, Founder of “UNA – One Table Experience”. At UNA, Milesi brought his ideal concept to life: Only One table/ Only twelve guests. His vision, which takes place in a pop-up restaurant at St. Pancras Clock Tower, London, will now delight visitors at CROSSROADS through a journey through Latin American cuisine. Within an installation and screening of Food + Art video loops, three times a day, selected guests will become participants of his concept.
