Oh what a day. Kate Middleton Prince William and Prince Harry were outside Buckingham Palace to receive the Olympic Torch from a charity worker this evening, as the highlight of a busy day spent together as Olympic Ambassadors.

They all wore casual blue and white clothing Kate in a pair of blue trousers with a plain white t shirt.  Earlier on Kate was in Greenwich to play football ( in high heals) on a visit to a coaching school, before moving on to visit a sports centre in Rotherhithe, South East London.

The Olympic torch was designed by Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby and took the ultimate prize at the Design Museum's Design of the Year Awards, held in London. The slender, gilded aluminium cone shaped object sums up the melding of retro, 'Stuart Devlin' style British craftsmanship, with a 21st century twist, capturing the zeitgeist of all that is great about the last century of homegrown style. Design Museum director Deyan Sudjic said; "the torch was "a triumph of symbolism and beauty".He added that it "demonstrates how design can celebrate traditional qualities in a modern manner". The design has split critics and the public though.
