Kate Middleton Visits Greenwich Ahead Of Afternoon Torch Procession
The Olympic Torch will receive a rapturous reception from thousands of well-wishers who have waited hours to mark its arrival at Buckingham Palace. The Duchess of Cambridge, husband Prince William and Brother in Law Prince Harry will show there Royal support this afternoon. The Prince and Duchess spent the morning visiting a sports centre in Rotherhithe, South East London, as well as a table tennis match at Bacon's college in Greenwich. This was all part of their commitment to the future of young athletes in Britain. They also watched the sports coaches of tomorrow show off their training skills. The history of art graduate showed off her skills with a football wearing high heels. Impressive!
The torch procession started off at the Roundhouse at 6:00 am and has proceeded taking a route which has seen it pass St. Pancras Station, Trafalgar Square and Downing Street. The Torch relay will take the Olympic Flame through the grounds of Buckingham Palace the 4th royal residence to host it. Queen Elizabeth looked on as torchbearers carried the Olympic Flame through the grounds of Windsor Castle. as well as the specital passing through the Balmoral Estate and the Sandringham Estate, in the last few weeks. No royals were on present when the torch relay passed by the Royal homes.
It is scheduled that Kate Middleton and Co, will attend a combined 25 Olympic events throughout the games. They will be in attendance for tennis, sailing, field hockey, equestrian events, and beach volleyball among other events. David Beckham has confirmed he will play a role in the Olympics opening ceremony on Friday - but he will NOT be lighting the flame. The famous England footballer said his role might involve the flame but it is thought the 37 year old celebrity will not be the chosen one to light the Olympic Stadium cauldron on Friday.
