PINTA London, Europe’s only art fair dedicated to modern and contemporary Latin American art, will return to Earls Court for its fourth edition from 4-7 June 2013.
More than 50 international galleries will exhibit and sell works by artists from around Latin America, and for the second year PINTA London will also present the work of artists from Spain and Portugal, reflecting these countries’ undeniable influence in the formation of the Latin American identity.
Highlights of this year’s show will include: Solo exhibition of works by Argentinean painter and sculptor Cesar Paternosto, with a focus on his position at the vanguard of Latin American Geometric Abstraction
PINTA Projects, which this year will be curated by Catherine Petitgas and Kiki Mazzucchelli, with a focus on young Latin American artists living and working in Europe. Catherine Petitgas is a collector, patron of the arts and author of Contemporary Art Brazil, and Kiki Mazzucchelli is a Brazilian independent curator and writer working between London and São Paulo
PINTA Design, which launched at the 2012 fair. Curated by Manuel Díaz Cebrian, this section will present the best of contemporary design from Latin America
PINTA London 2013 will continue the work of the PINTA Museum Acquisition Programme to help leading museums including Tate Modern, the Centre Georges Pompidou and MIMA acquire works to enhance their collections of Latin American art. In the past, museums including the Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, Madrid and ESCALA (Essex Collection of Latin American Art) have acquired new works with the help of PINTA.
Ahead of the show’s fourth year in London, PINTA chairman Alejandro Zaia, commented; “PINTA London has become a key moment in the European art calendar, in prime position between the opening of the 55th Venice Biennale and Art Basel. We are excited about the high standard of the Latin American talent which this year’s galleries will be presenting, and proud to give profile to these artists at a time when there is increased interest in buying Latin American art. We have no doubt that visitors to this year’s show will be impressed by what they will see.”
