Nude Art Opening Mayhem In Daniel Libeskind Pop UP Gallery
'Yeah, you missed it', stated Tony Andre the Director of Guerilla Galleries (London) whom I rang today to ask how last nights opening event went. A very private PRIVATE VIEW of the '100% NUDE' exhibition was mobbed, with 300 attending the show, half in the buff. It was held in the Daniel Libeskind designed building at London Metropolitan University. The dress code was optional, adding a new twist to this overused expression.
This new exhibition, which continues today in Islington and then moves to Guerilla's Shoreditch space until 24th January, celebrates, explores and scrutinises the role of the nude form as seen through the eyes of some of the country's best new and emerging artists. Last night's opening was 'A CLOTHING OPTIONAL EVENT'. With more than 100 carefully selected pieces displayed over two floors, It was designed to entertain, enthralled and enchant. All was enhanced by the architectural delight that is the The Daniel Libeskind space, who opened its doors to the public for this cultural extravaganza.
The 'Nude Opening' presented an oppoprtunity for those wishing to view this selection of fine art free from the burden of clothing or other attire in a relaxed atmosphere, with the option to be clothed or not. It's that simple! There was also live performance art, film, video, paintings, sculptors and interactive installations all contained within this well curated exhibition. *100% NUDE* may or not raise an eyebrow or two....but who cares, the works conatined within were accomplished and a lot of care and effort went into bringing it together. 'Don't miss it!'
