OPEN CALL TO ARTISTS: Collaborative Art Exhibition: Forbidden

Bookmark and Share

Guerilla Galleries London invites artists to submit work for an exhibition entitled ‘FORBIDDEN’ to take place on the 6 – 8th January 2015 at The Daniel Libeskind Space in Islington. The show asks that audiences reconsider the accepted societal notion of FORBIDDEN, and its relation to self-censorship in regards to what is seen, said and displayed publicly. It further poses questions of what in a democratic and free society is not permissible and why? Are there really some things best left unsaid, certain images and artefacts best not seen?

This Open Call encourages artists to submit recent work that explores aspects of what is deemed and perceived as FORBIDDEN with the intent of challenging audiences on an emotional and intellectual level to perhaps question various restrictions and assumptions around what is widely interpreted as FORBIDDEN.

The exhibition will include film, audio, sound and performance pieces in addition to traditional 2D and 3D works.

There is no submission fee, but a small fee by way of contribution and commitment is payable upon acceptance. The deadline for submissions is Monday 15th December 2014

Interested artists should submit the following to submissions@GuerillaGalleriesLondon with the subject line FORBIDDEN EXHIBITION, with:

  1. A copy of your artist CV.
  2. Up to 4 images of your work, no image to exceed 1MB in size.  The images must be JPEGs, titled in the following format: YourName_Title of Work_Dimensions and desired price of works.  All dimensions should be in cm.
  3. A brief artist statement, no more than 200 words
