PARTE Contemporary Art Fair Launches In Sao Paulo

PARTE Contemporary Art Fair 2013

PARTE Contemporary Art Fair takes place in São Paulo between 6th and 10th November. It is the third edition of the fair. The event brings together 34 prestigious Brazilian galleries and three international art galleries.

PART is an initiative of members Lina Wurzmann and Tamara Perlman working together since the preparation of the first edition in 2011. In the first year , 6000 people visited the fair, and 15 % of the public made a purchase. In 2012, there were 8500 visitors. It is a growth of 40 % from one year to another.

Unlike previous editions, this year there will be no value restriction. “We asked the gallery owners to continue with the policy of affordable, which is our brand, but now they are free to sell works of any value, provided that they have a good selection in the range of up to R$4000,00 (aprox. £ 1070),” says Lina. The change was made from the observation, in the last edition, there was a good demand for works of higher values.

The rule of bringing prices visible in the stands, and consistent information about the artists, still applies in this 3rd edition. It is also planned to identify works and/or artists unprecedented. The PARTE Fair shows a new market that began in Brazil in the last decade, with increase of middle class and their solidification.
