Private Museum Owners Gather In London For First Summit

Private Museum Summit

More than 30 private museum owners are gathering in London this week for the inaugural  Private Museum Summit. This is the first conference of it’s kind and launched to bring together representation from East,  West, North and South. The gallery/museum owners are set to take part in a series of public panel discussions including ‘THE CHINA MOMENT’ and ‘THE GLOBAL RISE OF THE PRIVATE MUSEUM’

The Private Museum Summit, an exclusive, invitation-only event which will bring together a group of powerful tastemakers from the East and the West for the very first time. The city’s new global art fair (1-3 March, VIP Preview 28 February), the largest to launch in London in a decade, is a fitting milieu for this pioneering initiative. The closed–door seminar will be complemented by a series of public panel discussions, which will bring the importance of the private museum to a wider audience.

On the occasion of Art13 London, a number of influential Asian, North and South American, and European Private Museum owners will fly into London and assemble for the inaugural Private Museum Summit, a unique forum in which to discuss shared goals and concerns. The summit’s focus will be to firstly introduce museum owners to each other and to enable participants to find possible partners with whom they might wish to collaborate. The ambition of the summit is to develop a network among private museums as strong as the network among public museums, and to underline their increasingly important role. The opportunity for museums to share knowledge and learn from one another is significant and the exchange of ideas that the ground-breaking initiative will stimulate has the potential to shape the way that private museums across the world collaborate and operate.

The Private Museum Summit is Chaired by Philip Dodd, Chair of Made in China, Director of the China Art Foundation and Chair of the Art13 London International Advisory Board On the occasion of Art13 London.
