New York has now proven that it can handle a corridor  of art fairs  and satellite events all crammed into one spring week. PULSE Contemporary Art Fair has been a leading event dedicated to international contemporary art, It runs from May 3-6, 2012, at the Metropolitan Pavilion in New York City. Currently in its seventh edition, PULSE New York hosts sixty national and international galleries, presenting exhibitions that span across all media, from works on paper, painting, and sculpture, to performance, installation, and video art. It is running simultaneously with British import Frieze which opened on Thursday to rave satalight reviews.
Frieze  has jumped into the deep end with a glitzier approach ready to put the wow factor back into fair going. It boasts 160 international galleries from 28 countries, including Brazil, China, India, Korea, Mexico, Romania, Israel, and South Africa, Frieze Co-Directors Amanda Sharp and Matthew Slotover have gleefully declared that ‘The number and quality of applications to our first American fair matched our ambition in ensuring this was a leading international fair from the beginning’.
