The Saatchi Online brand, which sells contemporary artist's work online was dragged into the Nigella-Gate scandal today as several artists withdrew support from the website. David Heulun, 35, told the Metro that; "I know the camera can lie, but until I hear otherwise, I'm not comfortable having my work on his website". Rachel Jones, 36, another artist was completely put off by the photographs, "I just felt that no matter what the actual circumstances were, in what happened between them, It doesn't look like something I want to be associated with", she added.

The Art collector/dealer  Charles Saatchi was officially cautioned for assault yesterday (Monday 17th June) after photos of him with his hand on his wife, Nigella Lawson's throat went viral. A Scotland Yard spokesperson told the press that a 70-year-old man "voluntarily attended a central London police station and accepted a caution for assault" on Monday afternoon. The photos were shot about a week ago outside Scott's restaurant in London. It is not known which type of a caution Mr Saatchi was issued. Mr Saatchi, a former advertising executive, and Ms Lawson a television cookery presenter, have been married since 2003.

Saatchi Online describes itself as "a platform that allows emerging artists to showcase and sell their work and gives art lovers insider access to new talent from around the world. Inspired by London's renowned Saatchi Gallery, Saatchi Online attempts to continue the gallery’s legacy of promoting new, contemporary talent and bringing great art to a wide audience". The company was founded in 2006 and is based in Los Angeles, California. It is not known what percentage is owned by Saatchi or how much input Mr Saatchi has into the company, other than name. It is quite possible that if he becomes a liability his name will be removed from the masthead as fast as you can say Margaret Thatcher!
