The Print Room at the Coronet in London will present the world premiere of As Good A Time As Any, a new play written and directed by Peter Gill, with designs by the Scottish sculptor, performance artist and painter, Bruce McLean, opening on Thursday 30 April 2015.

The new play features a cast of eight women: Tessa Bell-Briggs, Lucy Fleming, Indira Joshi, Olivia Llewellyn, Eileen Pollock, Hayley Squire, Roberta Taylor, and Sharlene Whyte, in a witty and ironic portrait of eight characters on a spring morning in London.

The installation for the play designed and executed by Bruce McLean consists of large-scale abstract painting, which occupies the entire height and width of the stage.

Peter Gill is acknowledged as one of the UK’s most important theatre writers and directors. He began his career in the 1960s at the Royal Court Theatre, becoming Associate Director in 1970, best known for presenting productions of D H Lawrence,  and of his own work. He was a founding director of Riverside Studios between 1976 and 1980, an Associate Director of the National Theatre where he founded the National Theatre Studio in 1984. A prolific writer for the theatre, his most recent play, Versailles, was presented in a highly acclaimed season at the Donmar Warehouse in 2014.

Bruce McLean studied at Glasgow School of Art and at Saint Martin’s School of Art, where he studied with Anthony Caro and Philip King. He was Head of Graduate Painting at the Slade School of Art in London. He has gained international recognition for his paintings, ceramics, prints, work with film, theatre and books and has had numerous one-man exhibitions including Tate, the Modern art Gallery, Vienna, and the Museum of Modern Art, Oxford.

The play is produced by The Print Room at the Coronet, a new centre for performance, founded and directed by Anda Winters.
