Shia LaBeouf Goes Viral With Central Saint Martins Performance Collaboration

The US actor come ‘Performance Artist’ Shia LaBeouf has gone viral with his Central Saint Martins art school collaboration. The current YouTube video has garnered over 8m hits.

LaBeouf, 28, made 36 videos featuring himself introducing the work of individual students for their BA degree show in London UK under the hashtag #Introductions. The videos were part of CSM’s Degree Show One, which was livestreamed during the opening of the Degree show.

In a parody of a motivational instructor LaBeouf is seen pacing in front a green screen shouting “Do it, just do it. Don’t let your dreams be dreams.” He adds: “Some people dream of success…Nothing is impossible”. He concluded by telling his audience to: “Stop giving up.”

A Google Chrome extension called “Do It” makes LaBeouf appear on any page and yell “Do it! Just do it!” at users. The clip from LaBeouf comes from his viral YouTube video that was meant to motivate and help students at a London arts college.

Central Saint Martins is one of the UK’s leading arts universities and part of UAL a collective of London based art colleges.

Other segments see LaBeouf reciting his favourite poem, The Laughing Heart, by Charles Bukowski; standing in front of a moving projection of clouds; he repeats “ooooohmmmm” sounds in front of a photo of slab of butter; reading out the lyrics from the 1982 song, She Can’t Love You, by the artist Chemise.

The project is part of the Central Saint Martins fine art BA degree show and the latest event in LaBeouf’s ongoing artistic collaboration with British artist Luke Turner and Finnish artist Nastja Säde Rönkkö, who began working together 18 months ago.
