SP-Arte 2014: Gallery Highlights For Its 10th Edition Announced

SP-Arte has announced stand highlights for its 10th edition. As Latin America’s leading art fair, SP-Arte will feature 136 galleries from 18 countries around the globe. Under the leadership of Executive Director Fernanda Feitosa, the main sector of the fair, housed on the first and second floors of Oscar Niemeyer’s Biennial Pavilion will bring together work by the best Brazilian and international artists on the stands of 100 modern and contemporary galleries.
 
New international galleries for 2014 include Michael Werner Gallery bringing Fernand Léger’s legendary work “Décoration bleue” (1941) as well as a characteristic Hans Arp relief “Untitled” (1950) which will be presented on the stand with important works by Sigmar Polke and Aaron Curry; Marian Goodman Gallery bringing work by Gerhard Richter, John Baldessari, Gabriel Orozco, Guiseppe Penone and Steve McQueen and Kurimanzutto bringing work by Allora & Calzadilla, Gabriel Kuri, Rirkrit Tiravanija and Sarah Lucas.

Stand highlights for returning international galleries include Pace Gallery bringing work “White Ordinary” (1976) by Alexander Calder alongside work by Tara Donovan; Gagosian Gallery bringing the work which includes “Ingrid II“ (2013) by Richard Phillips as well as work by Albert Oehlen and Cecily Brown; Yvon Lambert  bringing the work of Douglas Gordon, Jenny Holzer and Lawrence Weiner; Vedovi Gallery bringing the work of Andy Warhol, Josef Albers and Jean Michel Basquiat; Neugerriemschneider  bringing the work of Noah Eshkol; Galeria Continua bringing the work of Ai Weiwei and Regina Silveira; Van De Weghe Fine Art bringing the painting “Desmond” (1984) by Jean Michel Basquiat; Lisson Gallery bringing work by Cuban-born artist Carmen Herrera and White Cube bringing the work “ Anatomy of an Angel” (2008) by Damien Hirst alongside work by Jake & Dinos Chapman, Tracey Emin, Theaster Gates, Gilbert & George and Antony Gormley.
 
Stand highlights of Brazilian galleries at SP-Arte include Galeria Luisa Strina bringing significant works by Brazilian artist Cildo Meireles including “Descala 2A 2B” (2003) alongside work by Leonor Antunes, Olafur Eliasson and Anna Maria Maiolino; Galeria Nara Roeslerbringing work by Vik Muniz including “Sandcastle (Chateau de Chambourd)” (2013); Galeria Vermelho bringing work by Carmela Gross, Marilá Dardot, Joao Loureiro and Rosângela Rennó; a solo booth of work by Alex Katz at Luciana Brito Galeria which will include “Ada in hat” (1990); Anita Schwartz Galeria de Arte bringing work Abraham Palatnik, Waltercio Calda and Artur Lescher; Baró Galeria bringing work by Lourival Cuquinha, Daniel A rsham and Ivan Navarro; Galeria Fortes Vilaça brining work by Adriana Varejão, Beatriz Milhazes, Iran do Espírito Santo, Cerith Wyn Evans, Franz Ackermann and Damián Ortega; Luxuris Arte Contemporânea bringing work by Hélio Oiticica, Lygia Clark, Lygia Pape and Mira Schendel; Mendes Wood bringing work by artists including Lucas Arruda and Adriano Costa;Galeria Berenice Arvani bringing work by Mira Schendel and Galeria Millan bringing work by artists such as Mira Schendel, Artur Barrio, Tunga, and Lenora de Barros, who will also have a concurrent exhibition at Pivô.
