"Keeping It Modern," is The Getty Foundation's new initiative; which seeks to sustain important examples of modern architectural heritage by distributing a total of 10 grants. The Getty Foundation has announced this new philanthropic concept to conserve a number of highly significant 20th century buildings.

The architecture set to receive the first series of grants and is a list of classic modern architecture including: Jørn Utzon's Sydney Opera House; Hilario Candela's Miami Marine Stadium; Louis Kahn's Salk Institute of Biological Studies; Alvar Aalto's Paimio Sanatorium; Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House; Ray and Charles Eames's residence, "The Eames House"; I.M. Pei's Luce Memorial Chapel; Max Berg's Centennial Hall in Wroclaw, Poland; Dov Karmi's Max Liebling House in Tel Aviv; and Le Corbusier's apartment and studio in Paris.

Getty Foundation director Deborah Marrow said in the foundation's official statement: "Keeping It Modern builds on the Getty Foundation's long and successful track record of support for the conservation of historic buildings around the world, This initial round of grants includes important buildings on several continents."

But the future 'Keeping It Modern' grants will be somewhat different; and are to be awarded in a competition format. The future 'winners' are to be selected by a jury.
