The Magma Group of Artists To Exhibit At Bermondsey Arts Festival In September

The Magma Group of artists

The Magma Group of artists will be exhibiting at the invitation of the Vibe Gallery in Bermondsey, as a main feature of the Bermondsey Arts Festival, which runs from 27th September to 8th October 2013. The private view of The Magma Group, which is the festival’s opening event, will be on Friday 27th September with performances from the Eastern European band ‘Balabustah’, the Jose Banuls saxophone quartet and the City Showtunes Chamber Orchestra.

The exhibition is a forum for the most exciting, individual and expressive British and international art being made today. In this, their third show, the group will exhibit paintings, photography and sculpture, ranging between the figurative and abstract.

The aims of the Magma Group are to form an alternative path for the current of conceptually expressive contemporary art, and to provide a showcase and international network for artists whose work combines expressive and conceptual qualities.

The Magma Group was founded in 2011 and is made up of outstanding artists from France, Germany, Cyprus, Poland, Russia and the UK, some of whom have shown at the Venice Biennale. The name Magma was inspired by the notion that the earth’s magma is sealed underground subject to intense pressure before violently erupting into a freely flowing stream – similar to the way creative energy is stored and released expressively.

Group founder Annie Zamero says, “We aim to embrace concepts in our work but don’t retain them solely in the intellect. We want to make the concept visual and accessible in an energetically expressive way, with a keen interest in the aesthetic.”

The Magma Group art exhibition is the main feature of the 2 week

Bermondsey Arts Festival which takes place at The Vibe Gallery. Dates of Art Exhibition: Friday 27th September – Tuesday 8th October
