Tony Cragg App Launched By Cass Sculpture Foundation

Tony Cragg App

A new App has been launched by the Cass Sculpture Foundation to coincide with the opening of ‘Tony Cragg at Exhibition Road’. This free app provides detailed information about the sculptures on Exhibition Road and in the V&A, Natural History Museum and Science Museum in Central London. The app provides users with the chance to play a quiz and win prizes from Cass Sculpture Foundation and CASS Art.

Cass Presents: Tony Cragg at Exhibition Road is now available as a free download on itunes. The app will allow visitors to follow in Tony Cragg’s footsteps by incorporating Cragg’s own personal history with the surrounding environment, as the artist once studied at the Royal College of Art and used to frequent the surrounding museum collections. Users can choose to learn about the individual works by scanning a QR code, or playing the quiz. They may choose between two levels: ‘Fun & Fast’ for families and children, or ‘In-depth & Immersive’ for older students and art- lovers. Visitors may upload their own images to create a unique app that reflects their own visit, which can then be shared with friends and family via e-mail, sms, Facebook and Twitter. All users can enter a free prize draw with the chance to win membership to the Cass Sculpture Foundation, a 20 year anniversary catalogue, or up to £100 in CASS art vouchers.

Mark Cass, Chairman of Cass Sculpture Foundation said “Our new app, Cass Presents: Tony Cragg at Exhibition Road allows visitors to follow in Tony Cragg’s footsteps by interacting and learning about each of the 11 individual works placed around various cultural & educational museums in the heart of London. We’re excited that ALL can share their unique experience with friends and family via social media today.”

‘Tony Cragg at Exhibition Road’ is the first major exhibition in London of outdoor work by British artist Tony Cragg, consisting of five large-scale works along Exhibition Road and six additional works within the surrounding Victoria & Albert, Science Museum and Natural History Museum. Presented by Cass Sculpture Foundation, the exhibition has been developed in collaboration with the Exhibition Road Cultural Group (ERCG) and will be on display from 25 August to 25 November 2012 at Exhibition Road, London.

Tony Cragg was born in Liverpool in 1949. He studied art at the Gloucesteshire College of Art and Design and Wimbledon School of Art and he completed his studies at the Royal College of Art, a member of the Exhibition Road Cultural Group. In 1977, Cragg moved to Wuppertal, Germany where he continues to live and work. In addition to exhibiting his work internationally, Cragg is the Director of the Kunstakademie in Dusseldorf and has founded and operates a sculpture park in Wuppertal.

Cass Sculpture Foundation is a charitable foundation established in 1992 by Wilfred and Jeannette Cass, dedicated to commissioning new sculpture from emerging and established artists. The Foundation’s 26 acre grounds are home to an ever-changing display of 80 monumental sculptures, all of which are for sale with the proceeds shared evenly between the artist and the Foundation to invest in new commissions. By combining the best of philanthropic and commercial commissioning models, Cass Sculpture Foundation is able to continually commission and show new sculpture; to date the Foundation has produced over 400 sculptures.
