Tracey Emin Commissioned To Design 2015 Brit Award Statuette

Tracey Emin has been chosen to design the statuette for this year’s Brit Awards, which takes place in February 2015. The Turner Prize nominated artist also launched her first major commercial exhibition in Europe, for five years, at White Cube gallery, Bermondsey, this week.

Ms Emin is best known for her unmade bed installation, which recently sold at Christie’s for £2.5m and her neon works with cute expressions. She follows in the footsteps of Sir Peter Blake, Damien Hirst and Vivienne Westwood in designing the coveted Brit Award trophy.

Philip Treacy the milliner who designed Princess Beatrice’s ‘cat flap’ hat for the last big Royal Wedding put his own stamp on the statuette last year. Emin said: “I was thrilled to be asked to rework the Brits trophy.” She added: “It’s so nice as a visual artist to have an involvement with the creative side of the music industry and it’s such a sweet celebration of the amazing talent we have in Britain today.”

The Brit Awards will be held on 25 February 2015 at London’s 02 arena.
