A Difference in Vision
Rosalind Davis: A Difference In Vision
Private view: Monday 22nd March, 6 – 9pm
Salon Projects are proud to present the work of British- based artist Rosalind Davis.
Rosalind Davis conjures up a world of social decay with her portraits of deprivation and dystopian landscapes. Sensitive yet complex her mixed media works highlight the breakdown of social housing, community and the overall failings of modernity.
Davis fuses painting, collage and embroidery onto printed floral fabrics. This complex relation between mediums is integral to the pieces reinforcing her concepts literally in the material elements of her work, by stitching and repairing giving substance and scaffolding to that which lies beneath. The meticulousness of the textiles, its intimate and alluring qualities and the prints which are a cultural link to the eras of the buildings, are used to emphasise the fragility of the spaces and the disconcerting juxtaposition between aesthetics and meaning.
Davis has paintings in both public and private collections and a graduate from the RCA. She has a studio in the art hotspot of Deptford’s Creekside, London and is a founding member of Core Gallery. For further details please check
