A Positive View - Landmark Photographic Exhibition in support of Crisis - Somerset House
Showing at Somerset House between March 10 and April 5, A Positive View will exhibit more than 100 rare and signed photographic words across almost a century of photography. Genres covered in the show include still-life, fashion, landscape, portraiture and reportage – and the impressive list of exhibitors includes the likes of Richard Avedon, Miles Aldridge, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Corinne Day, Patrick Demarchelier, Helmut Newton, Gwon Osang, Irving Penn, Rankin, Mario Testino, Ellen Von Unwerth, Bruce Weber and Wim Wenders.
As well as showing works by acclaimed European and American photographers, A Positive View will also provide an opportunity to view works by a host of contemporary photographers from Korea, China, Japan and West Africa and some relatively unknown image makers.
The show will be followed by a Royal Gala reception and auction at Christie's on April 15 in aid of UK homeless charity Crisis. A 200 page book containing images of the exhibited works is due for publication in March and will be available (priced at £25) from Somerset House during the exhibition - as well as from Christie's, specialist art bookshops and online via amazon.co.uk. A limited edition, signed and numbered hardback edition will also be available - but will set you back a little more (£100). Remember - it's all for a good cause.
