Anaesthetic: A temporary block of sense is an exhibition that will prick at your ideas of the art world.

An anaesthetic blocks a person’s senses, whilst ‘An Aesthetic’ plays up to them. A loss of sensation occurs is the body is assaulted with foreign influences. Drugged and overwhelmed by a plethora of hyper-modern aggressors, be they media related or medical, our minds and bodies cry out for relief.

Showcasing work produced by the final year students on the BA CCC course, exploring themes linked to the idea of ‘Aesthetic’. Through mediums as disparate as performance art and painting, photography and debate, lectures and sculpture this exhibition confronts our modern inertia, our media that can no longer shock, our art world hazy with introversion. It will also draw the parallels between art and science and get into the guts of these increasingly linked disciplines.

Aesthetic: A temporary block of sense is no analgesic; instead it confronts the world head on, a solid ‘block’ of material, engineered to excite every sense.
