"Cycles" by Mutalib Man - m2 Gallery
For Mutalib the m2 gallery was reminiscent of the shrines commonly found in Malaysia, the country of his birth. These shrines are found by roadsides, under trees, innumerable different locations where small offerings can be made to appease the spirits, good or bad, that are believed to be everywhere.
Mutalib Man studied at MARA Institute of Technology, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (1969-72) and at London College of Printing (1972-75). Most recently he was selected for the 2009 Jerwood Drawing Prize.
