Dreams of Desire - Payne Shurvell
Dreams of Desire is a solo show of new work by British artist Daisy Delaney at PayneShurvell this September. Part of PayneShurvell's 4by4 September exhibitions, Dreams of Desire is open from the 8th to 11th September, and is also part of iconic British designer Neville Brody's Anti Design Festival, and the London Design Festival.
Known for her subversion of everyday designed objects, Delaney has previously shown in New York, London and at both the 2008 and 2010 Liverpool Biennials. For her first solo show at PayneShurvell, Delaney has produced a new body of work using till receipts. By visiting the gift shops of various institutions including the V&A, National Portrait Gallery and the Saatchi Gallery, she purchased items in a particular order to produce words spelled out on the receipts. By playing with the medium of receipts not as a readymade but a carefully constructed record of Delaney's ordering of items, she produces a hidden message, reflecting ironically on their former purpose.
