Goldplay: Wiff-Waff Tournament - Royal British Society of Sculptors
Wiff-Waff Tournament will take place in the RBS Salon gallery where the sculpture, an over-sized gilded table is installed, ready for visitors to play ping-pong. Players are encouraged to invent the game as they go along and to set up a personal dialogue with the work. This is one-day event for the public to fully engage with sculpture and win a medal or two. The artist will be present for the day to talk to visitors and play ping-pong. So come along with the family and enjoy.
Susan Forsyth is inspired by the relationship between form and space and works to challenge public perception through her large scale geometric forms of intersecting planes. Smaller works in cast iron examine playful themes whilst retaining elements of the process, such as runners, cups and sprues, thus giving the impression of something found or discovered. These ideas explore the imperfect sculpture with a playful aesethetic. Performance works are also of interest and Forsyth has presented a re-working of Bill Buckley’s 1971 piece, Silent Ping-Pong, in public places for public intervention.
