Monday _ 24 Month Meditation

Bookmark and Share

About a year ago I came across the work of an artist who visited a penitentiary in Mexico City for more than a year, every Monday.

I decided that my relationship with this person should happen exclusively on Sundays. I imagined Sunday to be a day of psychological preparation.

THE ISLAND
24 Month Meditation

5 March 2010 – 22 February 2012

24 Month Meditation is a two year project, which develops a Biennial in real time.
Curated by Robert Vincent, this has taken shape from a radical reflection on international art exhibitions and will be a time of work devoted to different states of meditation or self-transcendent practice, both private and collective, that can be achieved
in art through a state of high/altered perception.

The Biennial is a project that does not mean to stack intentions, places or people into an organised vertical - structure, in order to prompt a dialogue with the art system. The Biennial stems from a personal necessity.
This two year work will be developed as a continuation of Radical Relations - a series of three exhibitions held at The Island between September 2009 and February 2010.

Robert Vincent is a project in which various people from many different cultural realms and backgrounds, collaborate collectively in the development of a proposed or planned piece of work or research. Robert Vincent is continually shape-shifting, expanding and contracting its nucleus of collaborations, based on each work’s ultimate needs
