Tent London 2010 - ArtLyst Event

Tent London 2010 - Truman Brewery

With over 200 emerging and established designers and companies presenting the very latest in furniture, lighting, digital and interior products, Tent is regarded as the most diverse and must-see event of the London Design Festival. It’s where architects, interior designers, retailers and specifiers come to find inspiration for their latest projects, peruse, purchase and
commission the latest designs.

This year sees the largest collection of Contract specific exhibitors yet, with Byply, Ercol, Bolon, Iguzzini, groupdesign, LW design, Dsignedby, Alex Randall, Jung Myung Taek, Musuchouse, Naja Utzon Popov, Moore Designs, Lizzie Mary Cullen, Standfast & Barrack, Mathmos, Inflate and many others currently creating furniture, lighting and rug designs, as well as installations, that are ideal for commercial outlets.

Retailers looking to source exciting products for their stores will be delighted with the fresh offerings from Areaware, A+Z Design, Mini Moderns, Ashby & Boyle, Curiousa & Curiousa, Miller Goodman, Sessio, Kitty & Dude, We Have Furniture and many others

SHOWHOW (Sustainable Danish Design) exhibition at Tent
will be invited to explore the latest trends in sustainable Danish design in a 'hands-on' way. The exhibition will demonstrate the principles of sustainability being pursued by designers, that can be integrated into our lives as a creative experience for all. Participants include Biomega with their city bikes, including the exclusive launch of the new bicycle designed by Ross Lovegrove; We:do:wood and their pure, unpretentious style of bamboo furniture. As well as Julian Kyhl, with his timber tables produced using precision carpentry (on FSC certified wood) rather than screws, nails or glue.

The SHOWHOW structure The designers of the SHOWHOW exhibition structure have repurposed old floorboards into a candy-coloured playground for Danish sustainable design. The floorboards have been planed down, glued into sheets and
cut into modular parts. The structure can be endlessly reconfigured to fit different spaces. Created by architecture firm WEM3 and SHOWHOW curator Frederikke Aagaard, the structure has travelled the world and now seeks a new purpose and a long-term future.

 The Courtyard

The Modern Garden Company will be taking over the courtyard with an urban garden installation. They will be showing the latest in outdoor design, available for both commercial and residential interiors, with new collections of bistro style seating, free-standing canopy systems and architectural furniture - with an industrial twist.
Pop up Café-Bar designed by Vonsung to provide a café-bar pavilion for the duration of the event.

A fast build, the primary structure will be constructed from hired materials loaned from Vonsung's existing project sites, to create the walls and floors of the 147 sqm dining and bar space. The cladding material, which encases the floor and ceiling, is Bolon, a world leader in woven vinyl material. The walls will be Valchromat®, an innovative, award-winning engineered colored wood.

The roof of the pavilion structure will be seen from all directions; a series of waves, tilting towards key views. The space beneath consists of 'hard vs soft' materials creating a radiating series of spaces, from the central dining area with the Peggy Table (Series) by Pearson Lloyd and chairs by Modus. The whole structure will be illuminated by both skylight and dramatic indoor lighting, forming shadows and silhouettes, to create a compelling feature within this year's event.

Tent Digital

In 2010, Tent Digital will be supported by UK Trade & Investment and will grow to over 800 sqm of digital installations in the areas of Interaction Design and Augmented Reality. Leading exponents in these fields will show visitors a glimpse of the future. The larger venue will provide more space for installations to breath and will accommodate a talks programme.
