The Darkest Place is Under the Light Golden Thread Gallery - Golden Thread Gallery
The Darkest Place is Under the Light, a thought provoking exhibition of new works by Belfast based artist Breandán Clarke. Clarke has produced a series of photographic prints exploring the placement of text within the rural and urban landscape. Questions of nationality and aspiration to national identity are opened up and recorded. The text may naturally occur within the image frame in the form of graffiti or advertising slogans, and on occasion it is manipulated or placed by the artist in order to amend the meaning/message related by the image.
The Golden Thread Gallery has produced a series of exhibitions exploring artworks featuring text as an integral element of the image. The Darkest Place is Under the Light is the next installment from artists who use text within their practice, investigating the nature of how text and images relate and reform visual meaning.
