Now in its second year, the Lambeth Open is designed to showcase the fantastic range of creative talent present across the borough. With over 30 venues and 100 artists taking part, this is an unprecedented opportunity to discover the hidden art spaces tucked away in your local neighbourhood - and The Papered Parlour is no exception. Enter through a small green door off an alley in the heart of Clapham and step into The Papered Parlour - a creative paradise packed to the rafters with nimble fingered artists from a diverse range of design fields. Giving you access to 17 top designers and a chance to exchange creative ideas with leaders in their design fields, spend a relaxing afternoon meeting and buying from local artists as they make and sell their beautifully hand crafted pieces at the Parlour’s designer market. Expect a showcase of talent across a variety of fields including graphic design, fine art, illustration, millinery, theatre design and photography. Plus a pop up café will be serving scrumptious homemade cakes and tea in vintage tea cups. And if the promise of tea and cake isn’t enough to tempt you, The Papered Parlour also comes highly recommended. Just one year after opening it already has a string of awards to its name. In the past 12 months it’s been featured by a host of national publications including The Times, The Financial Times, The London Paper and Elle Decoration and in 2009 was awarded 5 stars and named ‘Best in London’ and ‘Best of the Year’ by Time Out. More recently it’s been attracting attention in the business world and has just scooped £50,000 to aid the development of the space as winners of the Barclays ‘Take One Small Step Competition’ - a nationwide campaign to find the UK’s most innovative small business.
