Vermeer and Wine - Thai Silk
Learn more about fine art and wine and meet like-minded people in a relaxed and informal – yet stylish – atmosphere. Joie de vivre at its finest!
This event is hosted by Stuart George and Jane-Angela Arte, experts in their fields, who have created a winning combination - to inform us about fine art and wine in a sociable evening event which will include canapes and wine tasting. This will be the first of a series of events combining Fine Art and wine, Opera and Wine, Literature and Wine and Architecture and Wine.
Wine in Vermeer’s paintings is always white, most likely from Bergerac and Anjou. After having a close look at the paintings we will try two excellent examples of these wines: Gwenaël Guihard's Anjou Blanc and Chateau Tour des Gendres Cuvee des Conti Bergerac Blanc.
Stuart will be doing the talk on the paintings and the wines, of which there will be plenty to drink afterwards. There will be a plentiful finger buffet of Thai food (fishcakes and so on), and it should be a really fun evening.
