Rubber Sole: Miami Art Week The Madness Continues Day Three

Here we are on day three, with more fairs opening and more blisters on my Todd clad feet. Yes and these are my comfortable shoes! Tip: If you are serious about seeing incomprehensible levels of art wear rubber soled shoes!

First off this morning after gallons of free coffee at the SLS off to the opening of Pulse, a great addition as a Beach side Fair, recently moving over from across the waterway. There were several interesting galleries from across the globe exhibition including a number from the UK.

The South tent by far the most interesting was titled Impulse and devoted to solo artist presentations. Here were two of my favourite London galleries, Beer’s London showing a solo exhibition of neon and painted canvas by Toronto artist Thrush Holmes and New Projects providing work by Alex Wood and Hedley Roberts.

The fair was far more curated this year than in the past with loads of space to breath and view the artworks after years of random overhanging but the quality varied.

Next, we visited NADA which is a collective of artist-led and emerging galleries. This event held in the mid-century modern Deauville Hotel is always a treat. This is often the place to discover what is happening in places from Brooklyn to Berlin.

Once again every time we saw something of interest the gallery was either from Brooklyn or Germany. UK galleries were well represented with quality stands from Ibid, Southard Reid.  Also, from the UK were artist editions in support of Glasgow International, the ICA, the Whitechapel Gallery and Benefit editions in support of the Camden Arts Centre perfect for entry-level collectors.

Back home I recharged my Duracells by having a quick swim and prep for the evening’s events which started with another Wallpaper event about nothing at the Shore Club in famous Bungalow 8.  Great food and Aperol Spritzes. Finally off to the Moschino party at the Delano.

More to follow today.
