Top 10 – Most Violent Works Of Art




This is not an easy or palatable topic, but art is steeped in violence. The human condition seeks it out, and in doing so glorifies the deity of bloodlust. Interestingly enough with the advent of film and the demise of the church, splatter-art has taken a back seat at the box-office. While violent films have done a roaring trade, art-gore is usually viewed as uncommercial. Here are ten of Artlyst’s favourite historic examples of this most horrid visual manifestation.
