The Art Car Boot Fair is all revved up and ready to go to the seaside with stacks of art, originals & just for the day editions and very special deals. Plus to entertain and amuse with wonderful performances, installations and hands on things to do. The Art Car Boot Fair | Hastings Edition is set to be another wonderful conspiracy of talent, eccentricity and frivolity with serious art bargains to boot. As well as filling your arms with art and your hearts with joy, you’ll find there’s a lot to do with your hands. Practice the art of handwriting, get stuck into some custard pie-ing, palm readings, nail painting, parrafin hand baths, hand tattoos while you wait and the chance to leave your mark all over a Vauxhall ADAM, plus finger puppets and paws and even a huggable car!

Drawn by the sea, the light, the net lofts and its rhapsodic bohemian sensibilities, not to mention the spirit of pirate smugglers, we will be rolling into Hastings town this July with the artworld’s most exuberant event. For one afternoon only. The art convoy will make its way through the vibrant streets lined with cool cycle shops, designer beard trimmers and shops bursting with re-found classics to set up outside the oily lustre of Jerwood Gallery. We’ll bring an afternoon of unforgettable art and frivolity to The Stade. Car boots will be flung open, overflowing with local and London talents with highlights including an exciting new collaboration with Marcus Harvey on the day that his solo exhibition opens in Jerwood Gallery. Plus a Hastings exclusive print from Sir Peter Blake, a talking Chicken Town hand print from John Cooper Clarke and just for the day hand painted album covers containing the latest vinyl release from Turner prize winning artist Martin Creed & band who will also be performing live as as part of an exciting and eclectic three hour cabaret from Cabaret Futura’s inimitable Richard Strange.
A myriad of random performances and happenings besides and fresh from our hands down, if a little damp, success at our London event in June we’ll be continuing our 2016 ACBF theme of ‘The Hand’ with ever more clapping, spanking and ticklings of your cultural fancy. Something for everyone and plenty more besides!
