George Condo and Kanye West collaborate once again for new track ‘Thera Flu’

Cover artwork by George Condo to adorn Kanye West’s new single has been revealed. The track is called ‘Thera Flu’ and is a collaboration between Kanye West and DJ Khaled. Kanye West tweeted the artwork shortly after it premiered on New York’s Hot 97 radio station.

The working relationship between Condo and West started two years ago when Kanye commissioned painter George to create original artworks for the album ‘My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy’ and the accompanying single ‘Power’. These artworks sparked controversy due to its raciness and the album artwork was rejected by certain retailers. And it seems that whenever the two work together drama occureth, as West’s new song ‘Theraflu’ has already excited debate. This is due to the open condemnation of the track by the animal rights organization People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), who object tthe repeated lyric; ‘Tell PETA my mink is draggin’ on the floor’. Can’t think why they’d object…

George Condo’s first major UK retrospective opened in October 2011 in the upper galleries of the Hayward. ‘Mental States’ provided a survey of a period of 28 years, from when Condo first emerged on the New York art scene in the 1980s, and achieved fame for his ‘Picassoid’ figures – a disfigured figurative style that was steeped in reference to the European and American portrait tradition, but that saw the visual discourses of the ‘Old Masters’ transformed through collision with contemporary, cartoonish mania.
