The competition winners have been announced for the London Photo Festival 2013. A total of 55 photographers from around the world participated and over 100 images were submitted to October’s Festival. The themes were Black & White Photography and Night Photography.
Zoe Whishaw (ex Getty European Art Director and now a photography mentor) was invited to select her Best in Show and two Runners Up at the Private Vi ew on Wednesday evening, 2nd October, which involved taking the audience on a tour around the Festival of her favourite images and providing vital feedback to the photographers about their work.
“My experience of judging and participating in October 2013’s London Photo Festival was both rewarding and inspiring. For emerging photographers to have a large public London-based exhibition space in which to show, sell and discuss their work can only be the way forward to help gain better insights into the market for their photography.”
Leanne Bouvet, Best in Show Winner, said: “Taking part in the London Photo Festival has given me the opportunity to develop as an exhibiting photographer. I’ve been rewarde d with a number of sales over the past few festivals and now in my fourth Festival and amongst such strong competition, I am honoured and thrilled to be named Best in Show by such an experienced industry professional, Zoe Whishaw. I’d encourage anyone interested in taking their photography to the next level and beyond to consider exhibiting here. Many thanks to Kit and Emma for launching this inspiring Festival.”
The Festival also runs its hotly contested ‘f/Factor’ competition and visitors to the Festival are encouraged to vote for their favourite image. October’s winner was Robin Baumgarten with his image of The Shard: ‘This is the first time I have won a competition and this was also my first sale of one of my images. I am super happy!’
