Performance Art Suffers Setback In London With Venue Closures Looming

Last week saw the announcement of the closure of Stoke Newington International Airport, Old Vic Tunnels & LUPA – a devastating week for performance art in London. Due to the fast paced gentrification taking place in Hackney Wick, ]performance s p a c e [  faces the same fate and needs your help now.

They need to raise £6,000 immediately and are currently running the I ♥ ] ps [campaign, a series of workshops and seeking donors, patrons & partnerships to ensure our survival. The capital raised through these initiatives is the final drive to save ]performance s p a c e [  from closure.

Performance s p a c e  have continously programmed new artists and maintained access by providing all core programming free of charge. We have supported hundreds of artists for the direct benefit of UK audiences, yet have had a total of 6 major funding applications rejected and recieved no support from Local Authorities, despite industry guidance. ]performance s p a c e [  has acted as support in kind for 4 Arts Council England successful applications to date.

PS have created many opportunities for artists and great events for audiences planned to take place across 2013 – however if they do not raise funds they will be closed by April Kindly remind everyone to please donate, share the campaign or contact us directly for details of patronage or partnership.

Performance Space is the UK’s ONLY performance art specific studio & event space. Since opening they’ve held over 20 free public events and supported over 200 artists.

Performance s p a c e , paid the artists involved and curated our programme without ANY funding to date. 2013 sees the continuation of our excellent development initiatives & ground breaking performance events – bringing the international performance art scene to East London.

YOUR support is needed to continue the ]performance s p a c e [ 2013 programme. Donate now to receive unique donor benefits. Pledge now and join the ]performance s p a c e [ 2013 programme of events!
