From 23 May, Hollywood’s artist in residence Shia LaBeouf, Rönkkö & Royal College graduate Luke (I take myself too seriously) Turner have been on a road trip where they invite the public to take them anywhere. Each day, the trio has tweeted their coordinates using the #TAKEMEANYWHERE hashtag and wait for a ride. Whoever then appears has the opportunity to take the artists wherever they so choose.
LaBeouf, Rönkkö & Turner will repeat this process each day for the duration of the project, with their path entirely in the hands of the public. Their journey can be tracked in real time at takemeanywhere.vice.com The American road trip has long been symbolic of a collective yearning to seek out beauty and truth within a corrupt nation. As part of MediaLive 2016’s theme on corruption, #TAKEMEANYWHERE asks, can we find such truths within the corrupted networks of society, and preserve something of the utopian naivety of the Internet age?
#TAKEMEANYWHERE is commissioned by Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art and The Finnish Institute in London. The project is realized with the support of Vice.
