The Camera Club of New York Mounts Successful Benefit Auction

The Photo Benefit Auction of The Camera Club of New York (CCNY),which took place Tuesday in New York City at Affirmation Arts has come to be known as an annual showcase of some of the most exciting emerging talents in photography.
In the company of more established photographers such as Justine Kurland, Moyra Davey, Chris McCaw, and Leigh Ledare, are break-out younger photographers like Pixy Liao, Matthew Leifheit, Bobby Doherty, Ryan Foerster, and Ilona Szwarc.
Liao, a Chinese artist now living in NYC, is featured in the current issue of Photograph, the guide to photo galleries. Matthew Leifheit is an artist and writer who publishes his own magazine, MATTE. Bobby Doherty is a still life photographer for New York Magazine, with a portfolio in the current Dear Dave Magazine. Ryan Foerster makes
experimental images using processes of erosion and decay and works with Martos Gallery in New York and Clearing in Brussels, and Ilona Szwarc is a Yale MFA student whose American Girl Dolls series has been published in The New York Times Magazine and was exhibited this year at Michael Foley Gallery in New York.
CCNY, co-founded in 1884 by the legendary Alfred Stieglitz, has been revitalized in recent years, becoming a leading proponent of new trends in photography.  It engages a diverse community of photographers through its workspace, residency program, exhibitions, lectures, newsletter and blog. The Photo Benefit Auction is its annual fundraiser.
