Charles Saatchi by Robert GordonDear Artist/Member.

Welcome to ArtLyst and thank you for taking the time to read our first newsletter.

The Newsletter launch has been in the pipeline for the last six months and we have decided to publish it just in time for the post Frieze lull. This should be a good time for many of us visual diehards who refuse to get caught up in the pre Christmas frenzy. I know that there is still plenty to do and see over the preholiday period. In fact many of the best exhibitions will be running through the holidays. View Today's Art Listings Here

In the coming year, ArtLyst intends to break the mould by creating something that you will actually want to receive in your inbox. The letter is designed to be a crucial part of the ArtLyst project with informative news and exhibition information at a glance. Our letter will be structured and dictated by our ArtLyst community members. It will offer everyone a portal that promotes interesting, new, innovative Art in London, Great Britain and beyond. Send us your Suggestions at suggestions@artlyst.com

I hope you enjoy our first bulletin and I look forward to seeing your Art and Art Journalism on the site, over the coming months. Remember to download your Free ArtLyst iPhone App @ the App Store Now.

Best Regards

ArtLyst launched in April 2009 and has been successfully growing ever since. We now have over 2,000 contributing members and receive over 60,000 views per month. This has made ArtLyst the fastest growing quality Contemporary Art Website in the UK.

Our membership is mostly made up of Artists and Art Professionals. ArtLyst was designed to function on different levels. It is a free access platform and relies on quality content generated by our members.

1) ArtLyst is a dedicated ‘what’s on guide’ promoting exhibitions of both emerging and established Artists, new and prevailing galleries including ‘Pop Up events’ that rarely see the light of day in the mainstream press. Our members generate our listings and we have been first to promote a number of leading exhibitions this year. London Art Exhibitions compiled by ArtLyst

2) ArtLyst is an online gallery selecting and curating new work by emerging Artists. Our site integrates new work with established names, which in turn draws traffic to the site. We also have future plans to organize curated gallery exhibitions in London. Our on-line gallery submissions are by invitation or recommendation only. We are constantly finding interesting new work to exhibit. Members are invited at any time to submit work to our selection panel. There is a lot of exciting work out there and we intend to find it. If you would like to exhibit your work on the site, please supply a link to your website/images to submissions@artlyst.com

3) ArtLyst is an important source for Art News, Reviews and Resources. Our members generate most of our content and we feel it is important to keep the membership small and containable. The high standard of Artists and Art journalism posted on the site is vital to our success.

Save The ICA GroupSave the ICA London

The ICA is currently in a fight for its very survival. For over six decades the ICA has been pumping fresh blood into the veins of London’s contemporary art scene. We need to get behind this important institution, visit it regularly. Better still, join or stop by the ICA today.

Back in January we decided to form a group of concerned members and visitors who frequent the ICA just to get a sense of what people were thinking. In March we formed a Facebook Group titled: Save The ICA London. This has succeeded beyond all of our expectations. The group has over 2,600 members and has become the single largest focus group supporting the cause. It has opened up dialogue and is working towards a secured future for this institution.

The Bucks Stop Here: Arts Cuts In Osborne's Spending Review Unveiled

George Osborne's statement was only a tip of the iceberg figure for the (DCMS) Department for Culture Media and Sport's budget. We expect to uncover that although national museums will be  protected and remain independent from Government intervention, their budgeting will face real cuts of 15%. The prospect of admission charging for museums will not be allowed by Whitehall, if this 15% cap is to be held. A hole in the institutional running costs remains and may lead to self imposed entry charging in the future. So where will the shortfall come from? The arts will be hit much harder in places behind the scenes. It is expected that areas such as administrative costs will need to be reduced by 41%. It is also expected that curatorial staff, museum administrators and expensive exhibitions will be off the menu for the foreseeable future. Read More
