Kentucky Arts Council Artists in Residence--Artist Grants
http://www.artscouncil.ky.gov/guide/prog6/tip_guid.htm
KAC administers two grant programs (Artists in Residence and the Teacher Incentive program) which place outstanding professional artists into residencies in Kentucky schools to work, demonstrate their art forms, and share their ideas, creativity, and talents with students of all ages. Artists admitted to the KAC's Artist Roster can work in either of these programs. Artists may apply to the Roster in the following arts discipline areas (list is not meant to be limiting as other arts areas will apply): visual arts, including painting, sculpture, photography, etc.; media arts, including film/video, audio, computer animation, etc.; traditional/folk arts, including individual components such as traditional native arts like storytelling, quilting, wood carving, fiddling, Appalachian circle dancing, etc.; folklife, including fieldwork, where local traditional artists are identified by the folklorist, possibly with the help of students; teacher or adult workshops, where folk arts and folklife are defined, residency activities planned, and follow-through strategies considered; presentations, where visiting traditional artists perform, demonstrate, or conduct workshops; performing arts, including music, theater, dance, etc.; and literary arts, including poetry, fiction, playwrighting, etc. Initially, new applicants' work samples and resumes will be evaluated for quality and experience by respected professional artists. Selected applicants will be interviewed in mid-February. Interviewers will be assessing the artist's knowledge of his/her discipline and ability to share the artistic processes involved; initiative, judgment and temperament; communication skills; project ideas; and willingness and desire to work with people, often in rural, isolated parts of Kentucky. Visit the Web site for application materials. Annual deadline dates may vary; contact program staff for exact dates.
Kentucky Arts Council Artists in Residence--Teacher Incentive Program (TIP) Grants
http://www.artscouncil.ky.gov/guide/prog6/tip_guid.htm
The program places professional artists into Kentucky schools and communities for one to four week residencies to demonstrate art forms and share their creativity with students and teachers. The goals of the program are: to enable teachers to collaborate with practicing, professional artists on design and implementation of innovative projects using short-term artists' residencies; and to involve students and teachers directly in the creative process during an artist's residency, and to integrate the arts into daily instruction. A teacher (or group of teachers) works directly with an artist to design a project, complete with evaluation and follow-through ideas. The project must involve the students and teachers directly in the creative process during an artist's residency of five or ten days. The artist is available for the equivalent of four class periods daily (30-60 minutes each), with each student group meeting with the artist a minimum of five times during the residency. Special events or professional development workshops can be substituted if mutually agreeable to the artist and teachers. Projects may focus on any artistic discipline or combination of disciplines, except folklife. Application materials are available on the Web site. Annual deadline dates may vary; contact program staff for exact dates.

Maple River Winery
http://www.mapleriverwinery.com/
The Maple River Winery in historic downtown Casselton will showcase North Dakota artists year around. We are looking at showcasing 4 or 5 different artists in two month increments for our North Dakota Artist Series. Space will determine how many artists we can showcase. We will not have any similar displays during each exhibit. This past summer we opened our tasting room with tremendous success. The cross section of visitors matches up well for showcasing North Dakota art. We would like to extend an invitation to all North Dakota artists to display their art. Ongoing - Space available will be scheduled on a first come-first served basis. If this activity goes well, we may consider expanding it to include other businesses in Casselton in 2008 to include more art and artists. Our itinerary for each of the two month series include the following: 1st Friday of showing: Free wine and cheese reception, compliments of Maple River Winery from 5pm to 8:30pm. Flavored coffees, jellies, other ND products will also be served. Brochures will be distributed throughout the Fargo-Moorhead metro area promoting each exhibit. The exhibits would need to be set up by the second of the month. Exhibits will need to be taken down on the last day of the second month. Items will be displayed at your risk. We will not insure any items and we will not be responsible for any breakage or thefts. We will be glad to set up any arrangement that will work on your end as well as ours. Some artists have already expressed interest in having their products sold in our tasting room. We expect to sell some artwork in our Pride of Dakota area of our tasting room after the exhibit. We will decide on an individual basis what artwork we will carry in our tasting room. Maple River Winery will promote each exhibit via: 1) Wine Club Newsletter; 2) Web site (www.mapleriverwinery.com); 3) Radio/Print; 4) Walk in traffic; and 5) Casselton Business Association and other organizations. Artists may possibly promote via: 1) Web sites; 2) Word of Mouth; and 3) Potential customers, etc. Artists will be encouraged to be present at the opening Wine and Cheese reception on the first Friday of the exhibit. Items may be sold at our winery during the exhibit providing we receive a commission on each item sold (10% suggested, negotiable). The potential exists to sell via our website as well. Artists will be responsible for any shipping etc. if needed. Our goal is to have 20 exhibits open throughout Casselton by January 2008. If you are interested, please contact Greg Kempel at the Maple River Winery at 701-347-5900 or email to greg@mapleriverwinery.com. We look forward to promoting North Dakota artists.

The Artists in Schools (AIS) program provides funding for in-school residencies of qualified professional artists. The program includes nine components: dance, design, film/video, folk arts, jazz, literature, music, theater, and visual/arts crafts. AIS places artists in schools throughout the state, offering students, teachers, and community members the opportunity to work with and observe them through both short- and long-term residencies. AIS compensates artists with direct financial support, the time, facilities, and mutually beneficial environments in which to work. Applications are funded once a year, but schools/districts should be prepared to plan for up to three years of activity. Funding levels are determined by the number of resident artists and the number of residency days.
The program supports quality arts education activities conducted by artists of high quality and ability in schools or communities, as well as in arts education partnerships between schools and community-based organizations. Funding is available in various funding categories for program activity of up to one year, though this activity may constitute a segment of planning and implementation to be conducted over a multiyear period. Funded activities may involve collaborations among artists, educators (arts and other disciplines), community arts resources, arts organizations with strong educational programming, arts organizations interested in developing strong educational programming, local businesses, parents, students, and the general public.

Some things about the registry haven’t changed: There is no fee to join; There are no applications or slides to mail in; Everything can be done from your computer; It is non-juried; and all professional visual artists over age 18 who wish to work in the public realm are welcome to join. But we have added many new features! There are no longer any deadlines. Join any day of the year. You can enter your basic profile information now and come back later to add work samples. All your work will be saved for you! You can log in at any time to update your profile, make corrections, or change your work samples (up to 10 images allowed). Your profile will remain active so long as you log in at least once every four years. You’ll never have to reapply. Last year the Artist Registry was used for: MSU Mankato, Trafton Science Center, $90,000 Saint Cloud Technical College, $90,000 Mystery Cave Visitors Center, $12,000 Anoka Ramsey Community College, $58,500 MSU Mankato, Otto Recreation Facility, $58,500 Metropolitan State University Library, $100,000 Upcoming Projects: Saint Cloud State University; Central Lakes College Brainerd Campus; Central Lakes College Staples; Minnesota Veterans Home Luverne; and more. The $100,000 cap on Percent for Art budgets has been removed. We hope to see many large projects in the future that will enable us to commission artwork of national significance. Because the registry is online, we are now able to actively promote it for use by other commissioning agencies too. That means more of the right people can see your work. Join today at www.percentforart.us and help us in our quest to have the best Artist Registry in the country! Minnesota State Arts Board, (651) 215-1617 or email www.arts.state.mn.us.

Museum Loan Network Grants
http://www.loanet.mit.edu/main_grant.html
The purpose of the network is to increase the public's access to, and appreciation and understanding of, objects that might otherwise be inaccessible by encouraging the sharing of works of art between collecting institutions for extended periods of time. Three types of grants are available. Travel grants are available for the support of travel by museum personnel to prospective lending institutions to research possible loans and initiate loan negotiations. Surveying grants will be awarded to lending institutions to enable them to identify stored and/or underutilized objects, which are both suitable and available for future long-term loans. In addition, funds may be used to consult with potential borrowers to identify the type of objects that they would be interested in borrowing. Implementation grants will be awarded to support costs associated with actual loans of objects, such as insurance, matting and framing, and transport. Intent to apply is due by February 18; full proposal is due March 18. Annual deadline dates may vary; contact program staff for exact dates.

Music Performance Fund
http://www.musicpf.org/
MPF supports programs which are often the only source of live music in the communities in which they take place. MPF is the largest single sponsor of live music in the world. A main objective of the Fund in recent years has been support of music education in the schools. As federal, state and municipal funding for music education in public schools has declined, MPF has increased its commitment to filling the void. Repeated studies have shown that exposure to music enhances a child's ability to read and learn. It has been shown to improve vocabulary, concentration, enhance problem solving skills and study habits, and encourage cooperation. At present, 25% of our available funds are earmarked for in-school programs.
