Review: Oliver Pietsch - From Here to Eternity

From 'Here to Eternity' at Nettie Horn, we dance with the 'Slayer' of 'Death' rather than the 'Devil'. Using a Muybridge approach to the moving image, we are taken through all the different stages of dying using a humorous set of montaged images, this gives a surreal, poetic, dark, humour in which the grotesque is picked up in decay and ironic natural circumstance. The spirituality of death is acknowledged and the cycle of life, beyond death into 'Life' represented, 'dancing with death' is a refreshing approach to a complex subject.
