Balenciaga: Shaping Fashion

Balenciaga Victoria and Albert Museum

This exhibition examines the work and legacy of influential Spanish couturier Cristóbal Balenciaga, with over 100 pieces crafted by ‘the master’ of couture, his protégées and contemporary fashion designers working in the same innovative tradition.

It is the first UK exhibition exploring the work of Cristóbal Balenciaga and his profound and continuing influence of modern fashion.

Balenciaga’s unique approach to making and uncompromising creativity made him one of the most innovative and influential designers of the 20th century. During the 1950s and 60s he introduced revolutionary shapes that changed the female silhouette and remain style staples today.
