Derek Hare – 50 Years On

Having sold his first painting at the age of 16, it was inevitable that Derek Hare should choose to become a painter of landscapes and seascapes. What is remarkable is the wide range of countries that he has visited in the half century that he has been working as a professional artist.

The emminent list of collectors who have bought his works and who have helped to inspire and encourage him are not always the investors of big business but also serious buyers of art for whom a painting is something to be admired and cherished. It is these collectors, both corporate and private, for whom Derek Hare paints. Like the painting subjects themselves, these collectors, also, are spread around the globe.

This exhibition, though not a full retrospective, nevertheless conveys the wide range of colours and moods inspired by the various locations around the world that the artist has travelled to and painted.
