BEARSPACE are pleased to present ‘When the clouds drop down, I just find myself in a fog’ the debut solo exhibition by Janie Kidston. On discovering the artists work at the Camberwell Printmaking MA end of year show in 2015, we are pleased to have worked with the artist on producing new large format photographs of the artists delicate mountainous landscapes, which combine minimal aesthetic with the shock luminescence as they hover like ghostly mountains along the picture plane. ‘When the clouds drop down, I just find myself in a fog’ presents new work by Kidston, after the success of her recent show at Camberwell College of Art (UAL) and subsequent awards and exhibitions. Kidston is interested in the broad topic of ‘landscape’, in particular the ways in which we base on our knowledge of unfamiliar territories on the medium of photography and our reliance on its ability to act as a surrogate for first hand experience. Kidston is interested in the role of digital technologies in creating an anxiety in our perceptions of the modern landscape.
