Jennifer Morrison is showing a series of abstract paintings that explode with colour. These works explore repetition and rhythm and aim to set up juxtapositions between the accidental and the deliberate.
In each painting colour and shape is used to attract and disturb, weighing control against playfulness and abandon. The ‘decorative’ aspect of her work is considered by her to be the perfect thing on to which meaning can be thrown. The artist is fascinated by the intersection of order and chaos and the spaces in between.
Born in South Africa in 1971, Morrison studied both there and in London, where she graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design. She has exhibited in London group shows and has had solo shows at The Arndean Gallery and The Coningsby Gallery, London.
Morrison’s work is in private collections in Singapore, South Africa and London.
