Marit Maes: Drawings

Marit Maes (1988) is a dutch artist and illustrator. Currently she lives and works in The Hague. In 2010 she graduated with a bachelor illustration from the Academy for Art and Design (‘s Hertogenbosch). In 2011 she was a participant at DNA for Fine Arts in The Hague.

The work is about the tension between the visible physical space and the invisible (inner) space. The drawings come forth out of an intuitive and associative process. This process can be playful, where images live in between the form and the formless, between figurative and abstract elements. Transfiguration is a returning theme in the work. The drawings are silent and at the same time look like they can transform any moment.
