New Mills Arts Fest 2014

Call For Submissions – New Mills Arts Fest 2014

New Mills Arts Fest a celebration of contemporary arts and culture including: art, music, comedy, performance, street entertainment, activities, workshops, walks and talks, are now accepting submissions, proposals and ideas for New Mills Arts Fest 2014, 17th May – 1st June.

About New Mills Arts Fest

Over the last couple of years New Mills has clearly established itself as a key player in the North West cultural calendar – in September 2012 more than 2000 people followed New Mills Arts Trail featuring the work of 50 artists in unusual spaces and places – pubs and clubs, churches and halls, the barbers, the bookshop, the florists and even the funeral parlour. In May 2013, as part of Derbyshire Open Arts weekend, more than 3000 people visited 6 venues across the town when alongside several long-standing and highly successful venues New Mills Arts took part in Derbyshire Open Arts for the first time. The event at Torr Vale Mill, a former cotton mill in the centre of town, displayed the work of twenty-two artists from across the UK and attracted more than 1000 visitors to this venue alone.

For 2014 New Mills Arts is expanding again and are planning a two week long Festival showcasing the work of contemporary artists and creative practioners from across the UK. The festival, building on the success of previous events, will run for a week either side of the highly successful Derbyshire Open Arts weekend and also incorporate the Town Trail with as many pop-up venues as we can muster alongside a range of events in more established venues across the town.

This year we are very pleased to announce that our venue for Derbyshire Open Arts will be the imposing New Mills Town Hall situated on Spring Bank Road overlooking the town and the Kinder Plateau in the Peak District National Park.
