Rosa Sepple RI SWA

From Monday 24th to Saturday 29th August, The Mall Galleries will present an exhibition and book launch of one of our most exciting and intriguing British artists, Rosa Sepple RI. All 122 of her new artworks that will be showcased, will be published in her first book, “Out Of The Blue”, published by Halsgrove and written by Adrian Hill. Pushing artistic boundaries at every possible opportunity, Rosa Sepple’s sense of adventure, colour and vitality continually shines out.

Rosa Sepple began painting in the 1990’s after battling illness and severe depression. Although entirely self-taught since then, she has become a full member of the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour (RI) and is committed to producing exciting, vibrant and highly original figurative works combining observation, memory and imagination. Her inspiration is drawn from ordinary people and everyday experiences and events that are then transformed and transported into a dream-like world of her own. All paintings are currently available to purchase through the website, where over a quarter of the collection have already been sold.

In “Out of the Blue” we are introduced to the fascinating visual world of Rosa Sepple. Yet behind her playful scenes and cheerful characters is a darker narrative echoing the artist’s own life and a picture of childhood upheaval, post natal depression and her constant battle with trigeminal neuralgia. Against this background we are brought to discover greater meaning to Rosa Sepple’s seemingly light-hearted and flirtatious images, transporting her work from its apparent naive status into paintings that contain far more depth than first meets the eye.

The grand opening and champagne reception will be held on Tuesday 25th August, 7pm – 9pm. The exhibition at The Mall Galleries, London SW1 will run from Monday 24th August – Saturday 29th August, open from 10am – 5pm.
