The Royal Academy has against all odds unveiled its 252 annual Summer Exhibition. Today is ‘varnishing day’ where the artists can see their works for the first time in situ. Agreed it was supposed to take place in June as tradition dictates but these are unprecedented times and it is a relief that the exhibition has gone ahead at all.

Art Basel has published their 2020 mid-year survey ‘The Impact of COVID- 19 on the Gallery Sector’ shows smaller galleries have been hardest hit, while online selling platforms are a growing priority.
This year the exhibition is back with a diverse collection of artists from around the world. Works can be purchased on the website and delivered directly to your home.

As the National Portrait Gallery closes its doors, not just in response to the Coronavirus epidemic, but in preparation for a three-year rehab, the annual BP Portrait Award survives online, as a virtual show. The 2020 exhibition is now up for view on the web.
Frieze has announced the cancellation of the ninth edition of the Frieze New York art fair. It falls in line with health and safety guidelines regarding the spread of the coronavirus (COVID19) with restrictions on gatherings of more than 50 people.
The Max Mara prize 2020 has been awarded to Emma Talbot. The award supports UK-based female artists who have not previously had a major solo exhibition.
