Damien Hirst Launches His First NFT Series – Pornhub Art Museum Nudes – Tate Modern Offers Free COVID Vaccines

10,000 NFTs by the Turner Prize winning artist Damien Hirst launches today to correspond to 10,000 unique physical artworks by the artist. The NFTs contain high-resolution images of the front and back of each of the 10,000 artworks. The physical works, which are stored in a secure vault in the UK, are now brought to life through their launch on Palm, a new environmentally friendly NFT ecosystem connected to Ethereum. Palm is 99% more energy-efficient than Ethereum or Bitcoin.

The physical artworks were created by hand in 2016 using enamel paint on handmade paper

Each artwork is numbered, titled, stamped, and signed by the artist on the back. Additional authenticity features on the artwork paper include a watermark, a microdot and a hologram containing a portrait of the artist. On each artwork, no colour is repeated twice. The colour of some spots on a particular artwork may appear to be similar, but they will actually be different shades. The titles are generated from machine learning being applied to some of the artist’s favourite song lyrics.

The application period starts on 14 July 2021 at 3 pm BST and lasts for one week. Successful applicants will be notified in the week after the application period closes. Each NFT is $2,000 and payment can be made using credit or debit cards as well as the following cryptocurrencies: Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), USD Coin (USDC) and Dai (DAI).

The NFTs will be distributed from 29 July 2021. No one will receive a physical artwork at the outset. Two months after the NFTs are allocated, collectors will be presented with a choice: to keep the NFT or exchange it for the physical artwork. They will have one year, until 3 pm BST on 27 July 2022, to decide to keep either the digital NFT or the physical artwork. If they have not exchanged their NFT in that period, the physical artwork will be destroyed. Similarly, if they have exchanged it in that period, the NFT will be destroyed. There will be an exhibition of the ‘burned’ artworks (i.e. those relating to NFTs that have not been redeemed) before they are ultimately destroyed.

When Damien Hirst heard about NFTs three years ago, he decided to bridge the gap between the physical art world and the world of NFTs. Damien Hirst views The Currency as not just constituting individual works of art on paper and as NFTs but also the whole project as a work of art in which people participate by buying, holding and selling the artworks. The Currency challenges the concept of value through money and art. An experiment in belief, every participant is confronted with their perception of value, and how it influences their decision. The Currency tests the boundaries of the digital and physical world and our role in both. Ultimately, the collector decides how to use their art/currency. The limited time of the exchange period ensures that even doing nothing is doing something.

Damien Hirst said: “The whole project is an artwork, and anyone who buys The Currency will participate in this work, it’s not just about owning it. It is the most exciting project I have ever worked on by far.”

The Currency, the first NFT series by Damien Hirst, will be launched by HENI on 14 July 2021 at 3pm BST on heni.com

Pornhub Revamps Classic Nudes In Major Museums

Pornhub, the online adult streaming website has announced the launch of “Classic Nudes,” an interactive guide to discover and learn more about erotic art in some of the world’s most famous fine art museums – The Louvre (France), The MET (New York City), The Prado (Spain), The Uffizi Gallery (Italy), The National Gallery (UK) and the Musee d’Orsay (France). With museums finally reopening around the world as pandemic restrictions are being lifted, Pornhub wanted to do its part in stimulating the public to visit, explore and fall back in love (or lust) with these cultural institutions.

The public can tour each of the six museums – either in person or at home – via the Classic Nudes mobile website. The online portal guides visitors past the SFW masterpieces and gets right to the good stuff: representations of the naked body in all its artistic glory. Simply visit the Classic Nudes website on your device, select your museum, follow the map, locate the artwork, and listen, read, or watch along to its curated content.

Hungarian-Italian artist and porn legend and X Jeff Koons’ wife, Cicciolina stars in the promotional video for Classic Nudes. View the SFW campaign video here. Pornhub Brand Ambassador Asa Akira serves as orator for the campaign providing an oral history of 30 erotic art pieces in this curated collection, while Pornhub amateur couple, “MySweetApple” brings 6 iconic artwork to life, including; Jan Gossaert’s “Adam and Eve”, Edgar Degas’ “Male Nude”, Gustave Courbet’s “The Origin of the World”, Francisco de Goya’s “The Naked Maja”, Titian’s “Venus of Urbino” and François Boucher’s “The Brunette Odalisque”.

“There’s a treasure trove of erotic art around the world – depicting nudes, orgies, and more – that’s not available on Pornhub. These pre-Internet art pieces are currently sitting in museums, which we are now finally able to start visiting again as covid restrictions are starting to lift ,” said Asa Akira, Pornhub Brand Ambassador. “So as people start to head back to The Louvre or The MET, they can simply open Classic Nudes, and I’ll be their guide. Time to ditch those boring self-tour recordings and enjoy every single brushstroke of these erotic masterpieces with me.”

Classic Nudes follows previous artistic endeavors from Pornhub including the recently launched “Remastured,” an initiative that used modern A.I technology and machine learning to restore century-old erotic films into titillating technicolor. Previously, the company commissioned contemporary art gallery Maccarone Los Angeles to present a feminist art show entitled ‘The Pleasure Principle,’ a pan-generational, sexually-charged exhibition of female artists whose work centers the erotic and disrupts the processes of content-cleansing that code certain images as profane, abject, or pornographic. Pornhub also hosted the online premier of SHAKEDOWN, the critically-acclaimed documentary art film centered around the Black lesbian stripper scene in early oughts Los Angeles by filmmaker and vanguard artist Leilah Weinraub.

Tate Modern To Offer Free COVID Vaccines

Tate Modern will turn into a mass walk-in Covid-19 vaccination centre this Friday night, offering first and second Pfizer jabs to anyone over 18.

Anyone aged over 18 can now get a COVID-19 vaccine at a number of high profile centres, including Tate Modern. To make it easier for Londoners to get vaccinated, the NHS have opened a number of walk-in vaccination sites across London. This means that you do not need an appointment, you do not need to be registered with a GP, and you do not need to provide proof of address to get the first or second dose of your vaccine. Details of vaccination sites in London for week commencing 5 July 2021 are listed on the NHS page, along with the type of vaccines they offer and walk-in availability:

The event will take place this Friday, 16 July, from 5pm to 9pm, run by NHS South East London. They will be offering anyone over 18 their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine. Second doses of the same jab will also be on offer, but only for those who had their first over eight weeks ago (on or before 21 May 2021).

Attendees don’t need to bring identification or be registered to a GP practice to make use of the service.

Frances Morris, director of Tate Modern, said, “Everyone at Tate Modern is delighted to be doing our bit for the vaccine roll-out. Friday evening’s pop-up vaccine centre in the Turbine Hall will help hundreds of people protect themselves, their friends and their families, as well as being able to enjoy exclusive access to our galleries for the night. I hope as many people as possible take up this opportunity and book now.”
