Kate Middleton Will Wear The More Conservative McQueen Outfits

The Autumn/Winter Collection by Sarah Burton the chief fashion designer for the highly regarded Alexander McQueen label is out there but not really for the faint – hearted. The creator of the Duchess of Cambridge’s wedding dress has previewed her autumn winter collection of Haute Couture dresses for 2012 and the runnway does not necesarerly translate to the wearable. If you look on the website you will find very user friendly garments but on the catwalk, it is more like fancy dress. Business as usual.

Haute couture  is French for “high sewing” or “high dressmaking” or “high fashion”. It refers to the creation of exclusive custom-fitted clothing. This line is always created for impact and little makes it off of the runway and into the boutiques. Haute couture is made to order for a specific customer, and it is usually made from high-quality, expensive fabric and sewn with extreme attention to detail and finished, by the most experienced and capable seamstresses, often using time-consuming, hand-executed techniques. “Couture” means dressmaking, sewing, or needlework. and is also used as a common abbreviation of haute couture and refers to the same thing in spirit.

In 2000, Burton was made Head of Design – Womenwear. On May 2010, Burton was announced as Creative Director of the Alexander McQueen brand and worked alongside McQueen for more than 14 years. Since her appointment, Burton has produced two acclaimed collections. Her debut in Spring/Summer 2011 was a showcase of intricate craftsmanship and in Autumn/Winter 2011, Burton continues to focus on handcraft, establishing herself as an accomplished designer with artisan and technical excellence. Today, Burton supervises the creative direction and development of all collections of the brand which includes women’s and men’s ready-to-wear and accessories as well as the contemporary line, McQ which is also made up of women’s, men’s and accessories collections. Burton was shortlisted for British designer of the year a prestigious award given out annually at the Design Museum.

It is doubtful that we will see any of the more avant garde expressive outfits on Kate Middleton in the near future . Our fashion writer has pointed out that the collection has been designed with confidence and craftsmanship. It is perhaps the most original collection created, since the death two years ago of the designer Alexander McQueen , who spearheaded the label. Photo: Kate In Alexander McQueen
