The Gala- Salvador Dalí Foundation is organising a conference, on the 19 June – 21 June. The Seminar will present and debate experiences of several international experts in the field of certification of artworks and ways to fight fraud.These sessions afford an exceptional opportunity to share and discuss the experiences of leading international specialists in their task of authenticating works of art and combating forgery.
In addition to the expertise involved in authenticating or cataloguing requisite artistic and forensic rigour, the Seminar will also engage in depth with issues that have received relatively little attention in the specialist literature to date, such as the authentication of graphic works and sculptures and the use of innovative legal instruments in the fight against forgery and fraud in the art market today.
The Seminar is organized by the Gala-Salvador Dalí Foundation with the collaboration of the law firm Roca Junyent Associates , the sponsorship of Prosegur Foundation and Diputació de Girona. The aim of the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí in organizing this Seminar and the subsequent publication in book form of the papers
presented here, is to contribute to the cataloguing, protection and furthering of the artistic heritage. These sessions afford an exceptional opportunity to share and discuss the experiences of leading international specialists in their
task of authenticating works of art and combatting forgery. In addition to the expertise involved in authenticating or
cataloguing works of art with the requisite artistic and forensic rigour, the Seminar will also engage in depth with issues that have received relatively little attention in the specialist literature to date, such as the authentication of graphic works and sculptures and the use of innovative legal instruments in the fight against forgery and
fraud in the art market today. The Seminar is conceived as a forum for personal and professional
debate and exchange between the invited speakers, members of Europe’s museological community and representatives of the cultural authorities. It has been rumoured that the foundation is in discussions with the Warhol foundation over setting up a similar institution.
